Today's tip is on how to increase your flexibility! This is an essential life skill that you use all day long. Through increasing your flexibility you will enjoy an easier life with fewer injuries!

To perform the 90 second stretch simply
sit down and put your legs out in a “V” shape.

Keep your legs straight and reach
over your right leg.

 

Count to 30 and then sit up and reach over
your left leg, count to 30 again.

Then sit up and put your hands together and
" reach into the middle for a count of 30.

For the ‘butterfly' stretch simply pull
your legs in from the ‘v' position.

Place your feet together and let your legs relax.

 
Try and touch your head to
your toes for a count of 30!

• When your child is doing these stretches, be sure to watch out for a few key points. Make sure their legs are straight during the 90 second stretch. Never bounce when you are stretching. Have you child breathe out while they go into the stretch. Once they are in the stretch count to 30 for them!

techniques to increase your flexibility!

•  It should be every family's goal to integrate fitness into their daily lives. Study's show that children spend up to 5 hours per day watching TV and playing on the computer!

These fun exercises may be integrated into any fitness routine. During your warm-up routine for activities, take a moment to go through these stretches and you will reduce your risk of a muscular injury!
