The Karate Kids program was founded by
Robert and Kenneth Tallack in 2001.
Kyoshi (Professor) Kenneth Tallack, 8th Degree Black Belt, has been teaching Martial Arts for over 32 years, and is a pioneer of professional Marital Arts in Canada.
Robert Tallack's mother, Sharon Berman holds a 5th degree Black Belt as well. Robert began his Martial Arts training before he could even walk, as his father had him doing the splits as an infant. Robert is truly the original “Karate Kid”.
The Tallack family moved to Japan in 1990 in order for the family to further their Martial Arts education, and study Japanese language, history, philosophy and culture. It was during this time that Robert attended Japanese Elementary School (Kami-Ashibetsh Sho Gakko) and had the opportunity to participate in the school's Martial Arts programs.
Robert never forgot the elevated levels of focus, concentration, respect, and courtesy that he witnessed in the Japanese education system.
Upon returning to Canada, Kenneth and Robert Tallack moved to Kingston, Ontario, Canada and opened Tallack Martial Arts.
Shortly after winning the World Karate Championships in 2001, Robert began the Karate Kids program in Kingston, and its incredible success in that city helped the program to grow across Ontario!
